AboutI have many varied interests, but one that takes hold of much of my attention is ancestry research, and the pull to understand my family histories within historical and emotional contexts.
Earlier this year, I began to dip back into art after an 18 year long chronic pain induced hiatus, and I found myself drawn to recreate the portraits and photos of daily life of my ancestors. I found it to be a way to fill out their lived stories a little bit more, and in the process, find more context for my life within their lineages. I feel drawn to preserve their stories. I decided to document and solidify these moments in time, these images, and historical contexts through art and words so they won't be lost. That's the hope, at least. More about me: I live at quite a few intersections of identities and lived experiences, and have a lot of time and inclinations to ponder these. I'm always searching for some threads of connection with the world around me, and the journeys behind and before me. I live on Nisenan Land, in the Northern Sierra Nevada Foothills. |
